“Just in time for Halloween, singer-songwriter Ryan Humbert has unveiled the zombie-themed music video for his new single “Waiting For the Lightning.”

Filmed over three days in late September, in downtown Akron, Green, Jackson Township and Aultman Hospital, the elaborate video is an homage to the AMC zombie TV series “The Walking Dead.”

“We had a blast doing it,” says Humbert. “Everybody in the band is a big fan of the show.” Some scenes in the video closely mimic ones from the series.”

Akron, OH – Join The Akron Civic Theatre for “This Land is Your Land: The Legacy of Woody Guthrie and American Folk Music” on the historic stage of The Akron Civic Theatre on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 8:00 PM.

This special one-night-only event will feature Rock Ridge Music recording artist, and Akron/Canton native, Ryan Humbert joined by band mates Erin Vaughn & Emily Bates, as well as multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Payne (Yankee Bravo) and violinist/vocalist Mary Kettering (Northwest Territory).

The group will be swapping instruments throughout the evening, including banjo, fiddle, drums, bass, guitar, mandolin and more, performing songs from American folk music legend Woody Guthrie’s illustrious catalog, including “This Land is Your Land”, “1913 Massacre”, “Dusty Old Dust”, “Ramblin’ Round”, “Plane Wreck at Los Gatos”, “Union Maid”, “Jolly Banker” and many more. Humbert and his band will also include songs from Mermaid Avenue, (the collection of songs featuring previously unheard lyrics written by Guthrie, put to music written and performed by British singer Billy Bragg and the American band Wilco) including “California Stars”, “Hesitating Beauty”, “Secret of The Sea”, “Walt Whitman’s Niece”, “Birds & Ships” and more.

Humbert is the producer and performer behind the successful “Hank Williams: The Concert That Never Was” performances, as well as the “Only The Lonely: The Music of Roy Orbison” series, including a sold out cabaret performance at the Akron Civic in November 2012.

Humbert is also a successful N.E. Ohio singer-songwriter who has played with the likes of Train, Chrissie Hynde, Elvis Costello, Chris Isaak, Third Eye Blind, Foreigner, The Zac Brown Band & more. Ryan has performed for The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Chrissie Hynde’s Akron restaurant VegiTerrenean, The U.S. Department of The Interior, Blossom Music Center, The House of Blues & countless other venues big and small. In 2009, Humbert released “Old Souls, New Shoes,” recorded in Nashville, featuring members of Third Eye Blind, The Counting Crows, The Black Crowes & more.

Ryan is currently supporting his new album “Sometimes The Game Plays You” which was released nationally by Rock Ridge Music in June 2012. The record features musicians who have played with Bob Dylan, Sheryl Crow, Johnny Cash, Robert Plant, John Mellencamp, Patty Griffin, and Lucinda Williams as well as members of his own band. Always thinking outside the box, Ryan hosted a private fundraising concert for the album at the home of The Pretenders lead singer Chrissie Hynde on as well as raised over $10,000 through fan support on the fundraising website Kickstarter. Humbert’s new album has been in heavy rotation on “The Coffee House” on Sirius XM Radio, with the song “I Will Find My Own Way” getting between 2-4 spins per day. While on a recent tour, Humbert recorded a 5-song in-studio performance at the Sirius XM studios in New York City.

This performance is cabaret style on the stage of the Akron Civic Theatre, therefore seating is limited.
